Calls are growing for every ship’s emissions data to be made public with Splash Extra getting in touch with many of shipping’s top bodies this month to discuss the issue.

The technology to track shipping emissions has been readily available for many years. Now the pressure is growing for IMO member states to debate plans to make shipping’s carbon footprint more transparent.

“Publishing the fuel and emission data already collected and reported by ship operators is a no-brainer and would come at minimal effort and cost,” said Felix Klann, sustainable shipping policy officer at Transport & Environment.
