AP Moller – Maersk has officially opened a new $150 million automated distribution facility in Singapore.

The 102,000 sq metre-site, World Gateway II, was developed with support from the Singapore Government and targets growing demand from companies using Singapore as a regional and global distribution base.

Located near Tuas Port, the site will facilitate onward distribution across Asia Pacific.

It also complements Maersk’s nearby World Gateway facility underscoring a cluster approach to scaling regional logistics capacity.

“The launch of World Gateway II reflects the importance of Singapore to our global network and the immense opportunities we see in Asia. Underpinned by continued export strength and increasing consumption, Asia’s growth trajectory remains extraordinary. This new facility is yet another milestone of our fast-growing integrated logistics business in the region, and how we support customers with more resilience and flexibility,” explained Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk.

The warehouse integrates a suite of automation systems, including multi-Shuttle and automated storage and retrieval technologies, alongside autonomous robotics, aimed at increasing throughput, accuracy and fulfilment speed while reducing manual intervention.

“Doubling our warehousing footprint in Singapore is a bold step forward and a strong vote of confidence in this market and our customers. The combination of scale and advanced automation positions us to unlock new opportunities, particularly in high-value verticals like luxury fashion, while delivering consistent efficiency at scale,” commented Chang Kee Seng, Head of Maersk Contract Logistics Asia Pacific

The development has reached around 70% occupancy

Png Cheong Boon, Chairman EDB at Maersk, said that “World Gateway II strengthens Singapore’s position as a premier logistics hub in APAC, offering businesses a trusted and well-connected base to scale across the region’s fast-growing markets.“
