‘Power of China’: Cosco Shipping orders six new 13,600 TEU boxships

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has won a newbuilding order for a series of green containerships. Last week COSCO SHIPPING Lines announced the order of six large 13,600 TEU boxship newbuildings.

The deals are among the largest container ship orders signed in China this year.

The 13,600-TEU containerships measure 336 meters in length, 51 meters in width and 30.2 meters in depth, while providing 2,000 cold plugs onboard.

In partnership with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. the six all green container ships will be completed and delivered by 2027.

The vessels equipped with low energy consumption, high speed and green environmental protection performance will be put on the South American route after delivery.

Due to 2,000 cold plugs onboard, these vessels are ideal for the efficient logistics of fruit, vegetables and cold products.

To remind, COSCO SHIPPING Lines was formed with the integrated container businesses of COSCO Container Lines Co., Ltd. and China SHIPPING Container Lines CO., Ltd.
