Leading, sailing, and inspiring — the journey of Vietnamese women in the maritime industry has been written through courage, determination, and generations of aspiration to conquer the seas.
From the fierce years of war, Major General and Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Nguyễn Thị Định became an enduring symbol of Vietnamese women standing resilient at the frontline of hardship.
🌊⚓️ As the first female commander of the legendary “unmarked ships,” she not only helped establish historic maritime supply routes, but also embodied the bravery of Vietnamese women who stepped forward amid danger to protect the nation.
Inspired by that spirit, generations of Vietnamese women in today’s maritime industry have continued stepping onto ship decks, entering bridge control rooms, and commanding international voyages.
🚢 Hero of Labor Nguyễn Thị Hồng — Vietnam’s first female ship captain — became the milestone of a new generation: women who not only overcame prejudice, but also directly commanded ocean-going vessels, proudly bringing the image of Vietnamese women onto global shipping routes.
And today, young professionals such as maritime officer Lê Nguyễn Bảo Thư are continuing that journey on the global stage through knowledge, confidence, and the pioneering spirit of a new generation.
✨ From the generation defined by courage to the generation driven by the ambition to conquer the oceans — toward a future where more Vietnamese women confidently operate, manage, and lead vessels reaching out to the world.
Each generation carries a different mission, yet all are united by the same resilient Vietnamese spirit — strong, enduring, and constantly moving forward across the open sea.
On the International Day for Women in Maritime, VSICO proudly honors the women who have shaped, are shaping, and will continue shaping Vietnam’s presence across the maritime journeys of the future. 💜
