Lower sales of VLSFO, HSFO and MGO drove an 8% month-on-month decline in the port’s total bunker sales in April.

 

Changes in bunker sales from March to April:

  • Total sales down 390,000 mt to 4.23 million mt
  • VLSFO sales down 147,000 mt to 2.19 million mt
  • HSFO sales down 147,000 mt to 1.79 million mt
  • MGO sales down 96,000 mt to 256,000 mt

Singapore’s VLSFO sales fell by 6% month-on-month, while total MGO sales slumped by 27%. HSFO sales also dropped by 8% from March levels, according to preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.

The port supplied bunkers to 3,438 vessels in April, down by 64, from 3,502 in March. Average daily sales also declined to 1,230 mt from around 1,320 mt in March.

Despite the monthly slowdown, total bunker sales in the first four months of the year remained 10% higher than during the same period last year.

 

Fuel grade share of total sales in April (compared to year to date):

  • 52% VLSFO (51% YTD)
  • 42% HSFO (42% YTD)
  • 6% MGO (7% YTD)
